LU Radiance Mission Statement:
The mission of LU Radiance Synchronized Skating team is to exalt the LORD Jesus Christ in all we do, help each member as a team grow in spiritual life, physical strength, skating ability, and also to share the love of Christ with others.
About Us:
LU Radiance began in the fall of 2008 when two LU students (now LU alumni) with skating and synchronized skating background got together to discuss the vision they had to start a skating team at Liberty University. After much research and recruiting these two girls were able to gather the support of the university and found students who wished to participate. The team began official practices in the fall of 2008 and continued on to reach Easterns Sectional Synchronized Skating Competition in January 2009 with 10 students on the team. Since then God has continued to bless LU Radiance with the support of Liberty University leadership. LU Radiance is now in its 3rd year of competition and is planning it's third consecutive trip to Easterns, which this year will be held in Lake Placid, NY in early February 2011.
Supporting the Team:
There are several ways in which you can get involved in supporting the team. Each spring both LU skating teams put on a skating show called PraiseFest on Ice. This show serves as a fundraiser for these teams as well as a time of praise and worship to all those who attend and perform. The skating team also will be hosting a number of skating clinics and freestyle sessions on Sunday afternoons in which the proceeds will go towards funding the team. Lastly if you wish to sponsor the team you may do so by mailing a check made out to Liberty University to LaHaye Ice Center (Attn: LU Radiance), 1971 University Blvd., Lynchburg VA, 24502. Any help or support would be greatly appreciated!
