The holiday season has begun, and with it comes the end of the semester, finals, and the Financial Check-In deadline. The Student Advocate Office (SAO) is happy to assist your student, and offers a variety of services. If they are struggling in any way, please encourage them to come see us.
If your student has not yet registered for Spring 2014, they should register today! They must check for holds on their ASIST account that might prevent registration. If your student has an “Advisor Hold,” they will need to make an appointment with their Center for Academic Support and Advising Services (CASAS) advisor in order to be able to register. Please have them call CASAS at (434) 592-4110 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
After your student has registered for classes, they should log into their ASIST account to complete Financial Check-In (FCI). Completing FCI locks in your student’s classes and housing assignment and gives them more payment plan options. The FCI deadline is Dec. 6. After this date, a $125 late fee will be applied to their account.
If you or your student have questions or concerns, please call SAO at (434) 582-7200,* email us at email@example.com, or visit our office in DeMoss Hall, Room 2247.
*When you call SAO you will need your student’s LUID number, date of birth, and FERPA PIN number.
Give your student the gift of memories this Christmas. For just $35, you can purchase the 2013-14 Liberty University Selah Yearbook. The yearbook will feature the names of all graduating students, stories of campus growth and events, quotes from students, Liberty Flames highlights, and much more. With a 2013-14 yearbook, your student can look back on their time at Liberty for years to come.
The yearbook can be shipped to your home for free, or your student can pick it up when they return for the Fall 2014 semester. If you purchase before Dec. 15, we will also mail you a certificate to wrap and present to your student on Christmas Day.*
We also have yearbooks from previous years for sale. To check the availability of past yearbooks or to order the 2013-14 yearbook, contact Selah by calling (434) 582-2206 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
*Yearbooks will be shipped in July 2014.
Christmas break is right around the corner. For most students, this is a great time to relax from the heavy workload of classes. However, after the holiday season, it’s back to work, studying for tests, writing papers, and then, for some, preparing for graduation. Most students look forward to finding a job after completing their degree, which can be daunting. We are here to help them.
The Career Center at Liberty University offers numerous career fairs each semester. Attendees can meet with prospective employers in their field of study. The fairs are designed to give students one-on-one time with a variety of employers and a chance to put résumés into their hands. Many students also get the chance to interview and secure internships at these fairs.
The great news is that we are open for online and residential student services during winter break. We plan to kick off Spring 2014 with five industry-specific career fairs. Visiting the Career Center is the perfect way for your student to prepare for attending one of the fairs. We are happy to assist them with résumé writing, mock interviews, networking insight, researching companies, and dressing for success.
For more information, visit the Career Center website. You can also call (434) 592-4109, email email@example.com, or stop by our office in DeMoss Hall, Room 1007. We look forward to helping your student.
