Brought to you by the Parent and Family Connections Office

Student Advocate Office

It is hard to believe that the semester is almost over!

Before your student comes home for the summer, be sure they have completed Financial Check-In (FCI) through their ASIST account to secure their enrollment for Fall 2013. If FCI is not completed by June 4, a $125 late fee will be assessed to their student account.

If needed, the Parent Plus loan is now available for application at www.StudentLoans.gov.

Are you looking for a way to help your student get ahead in math courses?  Liberty invites all new and current students who haven’t already received credit for Math 100 or Math 110 to its first Math Success Camp.

Math Success Camp will take place Monday, July 8, through Thursday, Aug. 1, from 9 a.m.-noon. This four-week camp prepares students for Math 115, Math 121, and Math 201 collegiate-level courses.  A math assessment test will be administered at the end of the four weeks to determine class placement.

Have your student reserve their spot today!  Space is limited to the first 24 students who sign up.

Career Center

May is here, which means thousands of Liberty students are graduating and moving on to the next phase of their life. It is a time of new beginnings; however the pressure of finding a job can also make this a stressful time. Regardless of whether your child is an alumnus, a graduating senior, or a freshman at Liberty, he or she would benefit from the services offered at the Career Center.

The purpose of the Career Center is to make your student feel confident entering the working world. Internship guidance, mock interviewing, and résumé critiquing are free services for all Liberty resident and online students, as well as alumni.

A mock interview places the student in a realistic interview environment to prepare them to confidently answer questions that might be posed in a real interview. Interviewees are required to dress professionally and bring a prepared résumé. Résumé critiquing services will ensure your student has a résumé they can be proud to present to potential internship directors and employers.

To schedule a mock interview or set up a résumé critique appointment, have your student visit www.Liberty.edu/Careers or stop by the Career Center in DeMoss Hall. For more information about Career Center services, email careers@liberty.edu. The office is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., in DeMoss Hall, Room 1007.

Distinguished Perspective

Actor, author, and father Kirk Cameron has visited Liberty University many times, and has recently entered into a film partnership with the university’s Cinematic Arts, Zaki Gordon Center.

“As a father, I’m trying to train six little Champions for Christ, and they’re all going to be in college one day; at least that is the assumption. You want to partner with people who are going to open doors of opportunity for your kids, a place that shares your values and your faith, and helps them realize the fullness of the gifts God’s given them, and then go into the world and impact it at the highest level. If parents are looking for a place to send their kids, Liberty is a place they’ve got to come and see. ”
