Student Advocate Office

 The end of the semester is here … well, almost. As your student packs up to head home for the holidays, make note of these important deadlines:
  • New and transfer students arrive on campus Jan. 10, and returning students will arrive Jan. 11.
  • The last day to add or drop a class without penalty is Jan. 18, at 4 p.m. Your student must be registered for 12 hours to maintain their Liberty scholarships or the Virginia Tuition Assistant Grant.
  • Liberty University’s Fall 2013 priority completion date for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is March 1, 2013. If you foresee the need to file a tax extension, notify the Financial Aid Office at (888) 583-5704.

 

Online Communities

We have recently introduced Online Communities to our students at www.Liberty.edu/Reach. As a Liberty parent or guardian, you can also take advantage of features available through these communities. Campus Church streams live* on Wednesday nights at 7:30 p.m., and Convocation streams live Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10 a.m. (EST). Recorded services are also available online throughout the week.

Home for the Holidays: Surviving your College Student's Stay

Holiday breaks are usually the first extended periods of time that families spend together since saying goodbye at the dorm in the early fall. College students are accustomed to new freedoms and new adult responsibilities, and while coming home can be a relief, it also can lead to new power struggles between parents and their kids. This article addresses common stressful areas and ways to avoid potential conflict – so that the entire family can enjoy time together.
