Housing Office

The Office of Student Housing is responsible for making all room assignments.


What to Bring with You to Liberty ...
 
To assist you in your preparation for college, specific information is provided below regarding what is supplied by the University and what you are allowed to bring to the residence halls. Please be aware that University furniture may not be removed from the room. It is important that you plan accordingly with your roommate(s) to avoid duplication of items. Students are not allowed to use nails or tacks to attach posters, pictures, etc. to the walls or molding. Any use of tape or adhesive putty is at your own risk and you will be responsible for repair if any wall damage or discoloration occurs.

Note: Standard mattress size is 36" x 80" x 6".

Things You Need to Bring:
  • Pillow, sheets, blankets, towels, toiletries, mattress pad
  • Milk crates - load them to travel, and then stack them for storage!
  • Flashlight and batteries
  • Laundry basket, drying rack, ironing board, and an iron
  • Laundry supplies - detergent and fabric softener (we do have a service available that provides you with laundry cards)
  • Small sewing kit (and safety pins)
  • Rain jacket and umbrella
  • Backpack
  • First aid kit - make your own and stock it with the following: bandages (variety of sizes), peroxide, antiseptic cream, digital thermometer, headache medicine, cough drops and cold medicine
  • Desk supplies - pens, pencils, pencil sharpener, ruler, calculator, stapler, tape and dispenser, paper, envelopes, scissors, correction fluid
  • Cleaning supplies - window cleaner, all purpose cleaner, broom
  • Alarm clock
  • Desk lamp
  • Cell phone
  • Note cards, stamps, roll of quarters
  • Personal hygiene products
  • Emergency medical information (when you check in with your RA, you will need to supply insurance information, family doctor information, medical conditions/prescriptions used, and emergency contact information.)
  • Trash can & trash bags
  • Power strips w/circuit breakers
  • Shower shoes
Other Items You are Allowed to Bring:
  • Plants
  • Fish and Hermit Crabs
  • TVs
  • Stereos
  • VCRs/DVD players
  • Computers (having a network interface card is recommended)
  • Printers
  • Coffee makers
  • Fans
  • Refrigerators (15 amps or less)
  • Lamps
  • Flashlights
  • Personal furniture
  • Microwaves
  • Carpet/room-sized rug
  • Window treatment
  • Curtain and spring rod for closet opening
Institutional Liability
The University will not be responsible for damage to or loss of personal belongings which are a result of wind, water, insects, rodents, vandalism or theft. However, when damage or loss is reported, the University will take reasonable steps to attempt to resolve the problem. Students are encouraged to make sure personal belongings are covered by their parent's homeowner's policy or a renter's insurance policy.

Campus East and Quad-Living (2-Person Room)

   2 beds (outside lofts are not permitted*)

*Loft kits - Students may request a University loft kit for an additional charge of $50, which will be added to your student account.  Not all University furniture is compatible with the loft kits.  Requests will be honored based on inventory.  NOTE: All three person rooms (located on the Hill and the Circle) have a loft kit and are equipped with three desks, chairs and dressers.  

Additional Suggested Campus East Items:
  • Toilet paper, plunger, bathroom cleaning supplies, toilet shelf
  • Trash cans and trash bags
  • Plates, silverware, cups, pots and pans
  • Bathmat
  • Entry floor mat/rug
  • Toasters and George Foreman grills allowed
  • Mop, bucket, broom, vacuum cleaner
Not Permitted in Main Campus Residence Halls:
  • Pets (except fish and hermit crabs)

  • Multiple-plug outlets (except surge protectors)
  • Hot plates/hot pots
  • Sandwich makers
  • Toasters/toaster ovens/George Foreman Grill
  • Candles
  • Space heaters
  • Air conditioners
  • Tubular halogen light bulbs
  • Torchiere-style halogen lamps
  • Extension cords
