In an effort to establish 50 alumni chapters nationwide and globally, the Liberty University Alumni Relations office launched its most recent chapter in Orlando, Fla., on May 16. Over 100 Central Florida alumni gathered at the Country Club of Orlando for LU’s largest chapter launch to date. The reception featured LU alumnus Greg Clendenin, who encouraged other alumni to stay connected and carry on the university’s mission.

“As an alumni chapter, we can enjoy the fellowship and the network and we can support the future of LU through prayer and by being ambassadors of LU wherever we go,” Clendenin said. “LU had a huge influence in my life. Without the education and experiences I had at LU, a lot of things would not have happened that happened in my life in the past 35 years and that continue to happen in my life.”

Since graduating in 1975, Clendenin has been a consistent supporter of his alma mater. On May 14, Liberty Athletics honored him and his wife Dottie for their contributions to LU’s baseball program by naming the locker room inside the Crowder/Muckel Fieldhouse the Greg and Dottie Clendenin Locker Room. Clendenin, who retired from owning and operating Florida’s largest private pest-control company, also gave $100,000 for lights to be installed at LU’s Worthington Stadium in 2008. He also made the construction of Liberty’s Towns-Alumni Lecture Hall a reality with his generous gift of $200,000.

The Alumni Relations Office is dedicated to serving LU alumni across the country and around the world. For more information on how you can join an alumni chapter and connect with fellow LU alumni near you, visit the Alumni Relations webpage.
