Liberty University’s Helms School of Government hosted an all-day Foreign Policy Training Institute on Saturday, March 21.
The Jesse Helms Center conducted the seminars and offered mock television interviews and simulated remote appearances to help students learn how to communicate their policy views effectively, articulating the core values behind Sen. Jesse Helms’ philosophy. Students also received advice on how to dress and the use of effective body language, and each received constructive critiques of their communication skills.
Special guest speakers included Deborah DeMoss Fonseca, former staff director of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee; Beverly Hallberg, executive director of District Media Group; and Robert Wilkie, assistant secretary of defense for legislative affairs.
The Helms School of Government at Liberty University prepares students to understand and articulate the biblical Christian sources of our religious, economic and political liberties and equip them to become Christ-centered leaders who are able to apply God’s word in every area of life. The School currently offers six residential degree programs. Students from other disciplines can pursue minors in Politics and Policy, International Relations, Pre-Law and Criminal Justice.
