Liberty professor Daniel Henderson gives message on prayer

August 29, 2008 : Teresa Dunham

Prayer is about more than asking what God can do for us.

“It’s all about seeking His face and not just His hand,” said Daniel Henderson, Assistant Professor of Renewal and Church Leadership at LU, in a convocation message in the Vines Center Friday morning.

Henderson, also Pastor of Renewal at Thomas Road Baptist Church, has penned six books dealing with prayer and other spiritual topics. He teaches in the areas of prayer, Christian living and church leadership. He is also the founder/president of the non-profit Strategic Renewal ministry that benefits pastors foremost in the area of prayer.

On Friday, Henderson equated the idea of seeking God’s face with being in God’s presence and knowing Him better. That’s the secret to a transformed life, he said – and one of the ways to seek God’s presence is through prayer.

For LU students who are moved to experience the power of prayer, an All Night of Prayer is being held at 10 p.m. Friday outside Pate Chapel. The event will kick off Spiritual Emphasis Week beginning Sept. 1.
