Alumnus runs for Congress

February 1, 2010 : Elizabeth Mayhew

Liberty University proves to produce another Champion for Christ with 1984 graduate Jack Jordan, who formally announced his candidacy for U.S. House of Representatives (Indiana-District 2) on Jan. 16.

Jordan, a Republican , claims to be a “non-politician” who prides himself first in being a Christian. Jordan lists five life objectives on his campaign website; his first one states: “I plan to continually work on my Christian spiritual life being at the core of who I truly am.”

After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Liberty, he attained a Master of Science in Management degree from Purdue University in 1988. From 1988 to 2004, Jordan embarked on a successful career at Eli Lilly and Company in Indiana, one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies. He began as a sales representative and after holding various positions, worked his way up to Brand Teams Director and Subsidiary CEO. Since 2006, Jordan has been on faculty with Indiana University of South Bend, teaching in the School of Business and Economics.

Jordan and his wife live in Bremen, a small town in northern Indiana, with their two children. He is active in the community, serving as president of Bremen School Board and is involved in various missions efforts in Romania, where he and his wife travel frequently, addressing needs for orphanages and church planting.

Jordan explains his reason for running for office: “We need a ‘citizen-candidate’ who has had extensive ‘real-world’ experience to help solve our country’s problems. I am extremely excited about America’s future and am confident we have great days ahead as we put forth true citizens who will truly represent the people of Indiana and utilize Hoosier common sense to solve our most urgent issues.”
