Sodexo, Liberty University’s dining service provider, recently presented a $2,500 donation to Pennridge Fish — a Pennsylvania-based Christian food pantry — on behalf of freshman Stephanie Hudson, who chose the charity as one of four winners of the national Feed the Conversation Contest. Hudson also received a $250 Visa gift card.

The contest was part of a national campaign by Sodexo to raise awareness about hunger. Students were encouraged to enter the contest last fall for a chance to win a donation to the food-related charity of their choice.

“It is a privilege, and an honor, to be chosen as a winner of this contest. I am thankful for the opportunity to help others in need,” Hudson said. “I believe that it is our Christian duty and privilege to care for those who need assistance. I feel very passionate about meeting other people's needs physically as a bridge to help meet their spiritual and emotional needs as well.”

She chose Pennridge Fish because a fellow student who is from Pennsylvania told her about the organization helping many people.

Julia Pfeifer, area marketing coordinator for Sodexo, said the goal of the contest was to help students get involved in solving the problem of hunger.

“This is great for Liberty Dining because we get to provide resources to help a student make a donation that they do not have the means to give themselves,” she said. “We are excited that Hudson, and students across the country, took the time to promote a charity they were passionate about in order to strengthen their impact on their community.”
