Liberty University saw a record-setting crowd at Williams Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 12, as 16,112 fans attended the first home football game of the season. (Liberty won 35-10 over North Carolina Central.)
The stadium’s previous record was 15,631 fans in attendance for Liberty’s matchup with William & Mary on Oct. 14, 2006.
Now plans are under way for major stadium renovations to begin immediately following the end of the football season in early November. The project calls for boosting the stadium’s seating capacity to 30,000 over the next five years. For more information, view a special edition of the Liberty Journal.
