Liberty University has welcomed more than 100 representatives from over 50 missionary sending organizations for Missions Emphasis Week (MEW), Feb. 16-20. Liberty University’s Missions Emphasis Week (MEW) began today with a Parade of the Nations ceremony at the start of Monday’s convocation. Many of Liberty’s international students participated by reciting Scripture in their native languages and performing special music and dances.

The Liberty community participated in the nationwide Cans Across America effort Wednesday, collecting more than 6,207 pounds of canned food. The food is being delivered on Friday to the Lynchburg Daily Bread, which serves Lynchburg area families in need.

The Liberty Center for Church Planting concluded a four-day “Storm the Gates” Church Planting Emphasis Week on Saturday. “Storm the Gates was only Liberty’s second Church Planting Emphasis Week in its history, and it also was a huge success,” said Dr. Dave Earley, director of the Liberty Center for Church Planting at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary.

The new Towns Lecture Hall at the B.R. Lakin School of Religion was filled beyond capacity Monday night as 925 students showed up to learn about the 14 short-term missions campaigns being offered this year by Liberty University’s Center for Global Ministries.
