DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN THEOLOGY AND APOLOGETICS
APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS
+ Application
+ $50 application fee
+ Official transcript(s) for completed Bachelor's and graduate degrees
+ 3.25 GPA in all previous graduate work
+ Graduate degree(s) must include one of the following:
Master of Divinity
Master of Theology with a thesis
Master of Arts with a thesis
+ Miller Analogies Test (MAT)
There are no minimum scores
Exam scores must be less than 2 years old
The GRE may be substituted on a case-by-case basis with Director approval
+ TOEFL (required for all international students)
Required scores: 600 (written test); 250 (computer test); or 100 (internet-based test)
+ A writing sample that meets the following criteria:
Minimum 30 page paper in Turabian format
May use a chapter from a Master's thesis if the chapter meets the 30 page minimum
Topic related to theology and apologetics preferred
+ Completed Personal Statement, Doctrinal Agreement, and Honor Code forms
+ Three references: 2 academic (from graduate-level education) and 1 pastoral, on letterhead
+ Professional vita, including degrees earned, ministry and/or teaching experience, and career goals
+ Self-certification is available for students awaiting degree conferral in a Master's program
ADMISSIONS PROCESS
+ Applications will be accepted year-round, but new students will begin in the Fall semester only
+ For fall 2009, all required admissions documents must be received no later than May 1st, 2009
+ Admission is very competitive
TUITION AND FEES
+ $425 per credit hour (full-time)
+ $440 per credit hour (part-time)
+ $150 technology fee
+ Students are not charged the residential activity fee
PROGRAM DELIVERY
+ Blended program; courses will be offered in the following formats:
Semester-long courses
Intensives (one-week and two-week courses)
Weekend modular courses
CREDIT HOURS
+ 54 total hours
TRANSFER CREDIT AND DEGREE COMPLETION
+ Students may transfer up to 6 credit hours from a regionally accredited PhD program
+ Transfer credit may not be more than 5 years old
+ Credit cannot be transferred from a conferred degree
+ Credit cannot be transferred from a DMIN program
+ Transfer credit will be reviewed by the Seminary
+ Students have 7 years to complete this program
POINTS OF NOTE
+ The program is best suited for pastors and professors
+ The program requires a dissertation (6 credit hours)
+ Students are required to pass a proficiency exam in German, and French or Latin by the second year of the program
+ Biblical Studies cognate courses require 6 credit hrs Greek and 6 credit hrs Hebrew - must be verified on transcript(s)
+ Students must pass comprehensive examinations
