Center for Worship students participate in six semesters of ensembles as as part of the degree requirements. One ensemble option is the Worship and Celebration Choirs. Each choir is made up of students from WRSP 180, 189, 289 and 389 and each year they participate in various programs such as the SBCV conference held in Lynchburg, VA Fall of 2010 and the Night of Worship held at Thomas Road Baptist Church each Spring.
The Center for Worship Guitar Ensemble consists of Faculty and students in the Worship Department. Students involved in a Guitar Ensemble study either jazz or classical music and make presentations for various on and off campus events. During the Fall semester of 2010, students and faculty traveled to Germany for a short term mission endeavor. Also in Fall 2010, their recording project, Acoustic Christmas, was released.
The Center for Worship Handbell Ensemble is a unique performance group which provides students with the experience of playing handbells while learning the various techniques of ringing. Musical appreciation and development are achieved through public performances, and the Handbell Ensemble works together with other Center for Worship ensembles in various worship program presentations. Students perform a variety of styles of music: Contemporary Christian, traditional hymns, spirituals, etc.
The Handbell Ensemble course fulfills required ensemble credits for Worship majors. Auditions are held at the end of each semester for the upcoming term. For more information, please contact Mrs. Peggy Bettcher at firstname.lastname@example.org.
