Ygyrl Leaders Mentoring Program
Supervisor:  Terri Miller (847-7751 or
Email)

Opportunity for female students to "replace" themselves on their campuses by mentoring a prospective college candidate during the academic year. The students range in age from 15-18, so some would be non-traditional recruits for most colleges, but we believe that at any of the class levels, mentors would be providing encouragement and incentives for girls to stay in school, look differently at class schedules for the future, approach class/home work more enthusiastically, explore new career paths, and consider local colleges as an option. This opportunity also provides the girls with a closer look at the campuses in general, admissions processes, leadership and other service options, athletic and academic clubs or extra-curricular activities, and adjusting to college life in general prior to choosing and attending a college.
