CSER 532-001: BRIDGING THE GAP URBAN MINISTRIES
Supervisor: Jodie Walton III (229-3939 or
Email)
The mission of Bridging the Gap Urban Ministries is to win souls for our heavenly Father. We use the arts to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. We mentor and disciple students and individuals that join the organization. Although most CSERs require 20 hours to be eligible for an "A", our CSER is rather time consuming. In order for you to get an "A" from us, we expect you to fully participate in the ministry for the majority of the semester. If you come to get your 20 hours and leave, you will be given a grade of "C".  On average, people who elect to complete their CSER with us end up with a minimum of 80-90 hours during the semester which are completed through practices, ministry engagements, community projects, street evangelism, and many other projects within the ministry.  However, we do offer 20 hours to people who would just like to help drive our ministry to different engagements.

CSER 539-001: YOUNG LIFE MINISTRY
Supervisor: Allen Miller (528-5560 or
Email)
In its 50-plus years of outreach to teens, Young Life has become one of the largest international youth ministries in the world. We are currently involved in outreach work in over 500 locations in the United States, including right here in Lynchburg, and in 32 foreign countries. The very heart of Young Life's relational approach to sharing the gospel is our meeting of teens on their own turf. We become involved in their world by consistently spending time with them wherever that may be; and as a result, we are able to communicate a sincere concern for their lives, win their friendship, and model the Great Gospel message. A verbal proclamation is made once a week at our "club" meeting which is designed to appeal to the unchurched or unsaved, and discipleship training is provided at our weekly "campaigner" Bible studies (usually held at 6:30 a.m. before school starts). Once a week all of our volunteer leaders (which includes 20-plus Liberty students) meet for singing, prayer and training. The time commitment is greater than three hours per week. There's much more to say. If interested call the Area Director, Allen Miller, at 528-5560.

CSER 564-001: COMMUNITY CARE INITIATIVE
Supervisor: Will Honeycutt (582-2152 or
Email)
The Community Care Initiative (CCI), in the spirit of James 1:27 and 2:18, has adopted the motto of “demonstrating our faith by doing our neighbor good.”  We seek to be a blessing to and lift the burdens of the needy in the city of Lynchburg and surrounding regions.  The needy are the disabled, the elderly, those living in poverty and the homeless.  We also seek to beautify our communities with litter removal, park cleanup and art projects, and assist churches and non-profit organizations with their events and outreaches.  CCI operates predominantly on Saturdays between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.  We perform 3-6 hour short-term service projects in a variety of venues.  CSER credit is available for participating on Care Teams for a minimum of 20 hours and for serving as Care Team Leaders.

We do this by meeting every Saturday we’re in school at 10:00 a.m. in DeMoss 1114. Volunteers meet and travel to eight urban sites, two elderly care sites, one service project/prayer site, and one evangelism/discipleship site. This is a ministry for all people with all kinds of gifts and all kinds of passions to do something they care about now.

CSER 567-001: THE MASTER'S INN
Supervisor: Sean Mills (434-369-5053 or
Email)
The purpose of Master's Inn is to reach young people for Christ, and to assist those who already know Him to draw closer in their daily walk. During the school year, we host weekend retreats, banquets, ski weekends and Christian School get-a-ways. Our goals are the same for each of these events; to being young people to Christ.  Our program is such that we can offer a great deal of "hands-on" experience to ministry-minded college students who are wiling to be used.
