CSER 302-001: MARCHING BAND

Available as a CSER only in the fall semester.
As a member of the Liberty University Band, each person may fulfill their Christian service requirements by service in several areas. Membership in the Liberty University Band does not fulfill CSER requirements without the documentation of additional activities. These activities include participating in member-to-member discipleship, presenting devotionals to the band during the semester, sharing their faith following performances in the community and on other college campuses, witnessing one-on-one at rest stops and restaurants when the band travels, providing service to area high schools via special performances and visits, setting up, maintaining, and packing a large quantity of band equipment, cleaning rehearsal locations following rehearsals, loading and unloading of band equipment truck for all rehearsals and performances, providing service via running errands, fulfilling office-related tasks, and maintaining practice and storage facilities, promoting concerts throughout the community by distributing flyers and/or other materials, or participating in various other activities which reach beyond the requirements of the band program.

Participation in Chamber Brass Ensembles is by audition only. Responsibilities include attendance and preparation for regular rehearsals and concert both on and off campus. Special duties may be assigned by the director. Students may receive either academic credit or CSER credit, not both.

CSER 328-001: CHAMBER SINGERS

As a member of the Liberty University Chamber Singers, each person may fulfill their Christian service requirements by performing and ministering through the various engagements. The Chamber Singers perform and minister through music in many venues over the course of each semester. These engagements are events that happen outside of class time and are separate from the Liberty academic responsibilities. Each spring the Chamber Singers take a spring tour that takes the majority of the spring break singing sing as many as eight concerts. In the fall the Chamber Singers perform several off campus concerts and choral workshops, taking Liberty’s program into the community. Chamber Singers also sing for Liberty’s Baccalaureate and Commencement ceremonies. With these responsibilities the Chamber can take this course for credit as well as for CSER credit.

CSER 329-001: CAMPUS MUSIC WORSHIP TEAM

This CSER is not available for open registration.  This Christian service includes the assistance of any activities that aid the Campus Praise Band or the Worship Pastor in matters regarding rehearsals, loop programming, travel, Christmas Convocation, photography, video editing and shooting, graphic design, etc. Membership on a ministry team does not fulfill CSER requirements without the documentation of additional activities. These activities include participating in ministry team auditions which take place during College For A Weekend in October, November and February.

CSER 340-001: SOUNDS OF LIBERTY (By Audition Only)

CSER opportunities through the Dept of Ministry Teams available fall/spring semester.
Membership on a ministry team does not fulfill CSER requirements without the documentation of additional activities. These activities include participating in ministry team auditions which take place during College for a Weekend in October, November and February. Also, ministry team auditions are held for current on campus Liberty students during the last part of January and February. CSER participants are ask to assist in set-up, operation, and tear down of equipment in multiple rooms for vocal and instrumental auditions, assist auditionees with check in, handing out information, and answering questions pertaining to the audition process and the Dept of Ministry Teams as well as Liberty University. Follow up activities include sending out emails, letters, organizing audition packets. Some other CSER activities our teams get involved in are local soup kitchens and the Central Virginia Training Center.

CSER 353-001: WOODWIND ENSEMBLE

The Woodwind Ensemble functions as a training group in learning small ensemble skills. The group regularly performs in Liberty recitals and convocations and also performs in area churches and schools.

CSER 391-001: LIBERTY ORCHESTRA

Orchestra is an auditioned instrumental ensemble consisting of string instruments, winds and percussion. Performance repertoire includes overtures, suites, concertos, symphonies, musicals and works drawn from contemporary and movie resources. Rehearsals always begin with prayer, and there are two concerts given during the semester: one at Liberty University and the other in a local church.
