LU Praise Audition Information

LU Praise is a 25 – member gospel choir that serves as an official representative team for Liberty University’s Center for Music and Worship. The group’s mission is to bring glory to the Name of Jesus through the musical languages of the African-American worship traditions.  Group presentations include, but are not limited to: spirituals, anthems, hymns, Scripture song, traditional black gospel, contemporary black gospel, and sacred classic.  

Audition Dates

Auditions for the 2015-2016 academic year will take place on the following dates and times:

  • Monday March 2nd 
    11:00 am - 5:00 pm
    Music Building 9
  • Wednesday March 4th
    11:00 am - 5:00 pm
    Music Building 9
  • Friday March 6th
    11:00 am - 5:00 pm
    Music Building 9
     
  • An audition sign-up sheet will be posted at the information desk in Music Building 9 (on the Circle) beginning Friday, February 20th.
     
  • Callback Auditions will be held on Thursday, March 19th and Saturday March 21st.  Everyone called back will be required to attend on Thursday evening the 19th, but not everyone will be required to attend Saturday the 21st. All students auditioning for the group should plan to keep these days and times open.

How to prepare for an audition:

  1. Schedule an audition by signing up for an audition slot
    • Sign up sheet available at the information desk in Music Building 9 beginning Friday, February 20th.
  2. Please download and fill out the application
    • Send the completed application to LUPraise@Liberty.edu
    • Please bring a hard copy of your application to the audition
  3. Prepare to sing a verse and chorus of one gospel song selection.
    • You may also be asked to sing harmonies with others, or perform some other vocal exercises.

Audition Information

LU Praise members are selected through a rigorous audition and evaluation process that includes: an extensive written application, demonstration of Christian testimony and commitment, spiritual leadership, academic potential and achievement, musical ability, and ministry experience. Auditions are scheduled on an annual basis and are held in the Center for Music and Worship. Auditions are open to all Liberty students and occur each spring semester for the upcoming academic year.
