Master of Arts in Ethnomusicology

Residential Program

Musical languages are as diverse as spoken dialects and vary based on culture. Music provides unique avenues for building and enhancing intercultural relationships. Through Liberty's Master of the Arts in Ethnomusicology degree, you will learn about globalization and postcolonial issues, as well as gain cross-cultural skills that will allow you to engage with communities around the world.

Heart Music

Most people have one or two particular musical styles that feel like home – "heart music." Heart music is closely linked to individual and corporate memory within a culture. Music and art reach people in profound ways and can meaningfully affect people mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. With an M.A. in Ethnomusicology, you will be able to pursue a musical career in a variety of cross-cultural environments.

Liberty University’s M.A. in Ethnomusicology degree is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
