What Is An Internship?

  • Upper level on-the-job experience
  • Facilitates your learning in your career choice in a real job environment
  • Allows you to make intellectual connections between course work and on the job assignments
  • Increases your professional competence
  • Allows employers to assess and train future employees while gaining new perspectives
  • Allows you to become a candidate for future employment!

When Should You Start To Plan For Your Internship?

  • Two (2) semesters prior to when you want to intern

What To Do First:

Clarify your personal goals and expectations for the internship experience

  • What do you want to do after you graduate?
  • What do you want to do 5 years and 10 years after graduation?
  • What do you want to learn/gain from an internship?

Next

  • Research potential employers and employment opportunities (Internet, parents, relatives, parent's friends, etc.)
  • Make an appointment with Mrs. Howard to view list of potential sites
  • Attend one (1) of the FACS Internship Informational Meetings

*Attendance to one meeting is mandatory for all students wishing to intern in Spring 2016.  Deadline for registration for the course is Nov. 30. Late fees will be applied after that date.
