History of Eagle Battalion

"Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,
“Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”

And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”  - Isaiah 6:8

History

The Liberty University Eagle Battalion began in 1979 in cooperation with Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia with five cadets and two cadre members. It was disbanded in 1984.

The Eagle Battalion was reestablished in 2001 as a partnership school with the Cavalier Battalion at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia with five cadets.

There are currently five full-time and two part-time cadre members that oversee the Eagle Battalion. Visit the Cadre and Staff page for more details.

Physical Fitness

Physical fitness is an important aspect of ROTC and the Eagle Battalion. Cadets will be expected to regularly demonstrate push-ups, sit-ups, and a two-mile run.

Properly interpreted, performance in physical fitness shows the following:

  • Individual physical fitness level
  • Unit physical fitness level
  • Physical fitness deficiencies
  • Cadets needing special attention
