Internship Opportunities 



The Helms School of Government strongly encourages students of all majors and specializations to participate in an internship prior to graduation.  Internships provide innumerable benefits, including job contacts, practical hands-on experience and the acquistion of marketable skills.  It is vitally important to find an internship that fits within your personal career goals and, to do so you will need to dedicate some time to researching the variety of opportunities available to you.  Listed below are just some of the internships being offered.

 


Refugee and Immigration Services Legal Internship

Refugee and Immigration Services is a nonprofit organization that has resettled refugees and assisted immigrants in the Roanoke Valley since 1980.  They are seeking a qualified intern who would assist the Immigration Counselors by providing administrative assistance, reviewing and preparing documents, and researching case law, especially criminal law and its impact on immigration.  Applicants must have excellent English and research skills as well as a high level of analytical and reasoning ability.  For more information, please contact:

Washington Semester Fellowship

T
he Helms School of Government, in partnership with the Liberty University Career Center, proudly serves the students of Liberty University by offering the Washington Semester Fellowship.  This is a unique opportunity to remain a full-time student, receive academic credit, be in the the middle of the nation's capital, and be placed in a valuable internship to help launch you into your career.  Stop by the Career Center located in the second floor of Demoss room 2016 (inside CASAS) or e-mail washington@liberty.edu to set up a direct appointment.
 
The Washington Semester Fellowship is only one of the ways students can secure an internship and receive course credit.  Students may find an internship on their own or come to the Career Center for more help in the internship search process.  Beyond the walls of this university lies an open world of possibilities for experiential education and Liberty students are given a chance to earn educational credits through experiential learning when enrolled in the internship program.  Do not wait to position yourself for the future, start by making an immediate impact.  Internship meetings are held weekly through the Career Center.  For more information visit their office in Demoss 2016 or check out: www.liberty.edu/index.cfm
