Biography

Dr. Brigitte Townsend studies human metabolism and the effects of nutritional interventions on disease treatment and prevention. Her doctoral studies at UIUC focused on the effects of broccoli and its main bioactive sulforaphane on neuroinflammation and sickness behavior in an aging mouse model.

Dr. Townsend has also worked with Georgia’s regional hospital emergency management program and assisting with graduate classes in disaster management.
