Liberty University Institutional Review Board (IRB)

Role of the IRB

Human subject research is regulated by the federal government through the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Human Research Protections. The IRB committee consists of faculty members from various Liberty departments and one non-university member.

The IRB is required to review all research involving human participants to ensure privacy, confidentiality, and safety or participants.

Your Research Responsibilities

Before beginning a project that involves investigating or collecting information on living human participants for research, it is the responsibility of each investigator (university faculty member, staff member, or student) to seek review by the IRB.
