Admission Steps for International Graduate Students

Step 1: Students Residing outside the U.S. Requesting a SEVIS I-20

• Students from non-English speaking countries must have their transcripts translated and evaluated by a NACES member organization
• Affidavit of Financial Support (Includes Sponsorship Letter and Official Bank Document)
• Copy Of Passport Photo Page
• Test of English Proficiency: If English is not your primary language submit one of the following tests: 1) A TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 100 on the Internet-based TOEFL (or equivalent) is required for graduate admissions. The University institutional code for the TOEFL is 5385; 2) IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score is assessed on a case-by-case basis; or 3) PTE (Pearson Test of English) score is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
• Family Information sheet (if bringing dependents to the U.S.)

Step 1: Students Residing in the U.S. Requesting a Transfer SEVIS I-20

• Copy of Passport Photo Page
• Test of English Proficiency: If English is not your primary language submit one of the following tests and you have been in the country for less than 6 months: 1) A TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 100 on the Internet-based TOEFL (or equivalent) is required for graduate admissions. The University institutional code for the TOEFL is 5385; 2) IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score is assessed on a case-by-case basis; or 3) PTE (Pearson Test of English) score is assessed on a case-by-case basis.

• A copy of current I-20
• A copy of I-94
• Transfer Eligibility Form

Step 1: Students in the U.S. with a non F-1 Visa

• A copy of I-94
• NOTE: If a student is currently on another visa type (R-1, J-1, etc.) but will be traveling to his home country before attending Liberty, he may want to get an I-20 and enter on an F-1 Student Visa. If this is the case, follow the first requirement list.

Step 2: Submit Degree Admission Requirements

• Submit the specific requirements that pertain to your degree

Step 3: Accept (upon receipt of Acceptance letter)

• Pay SEVIS Fee
• Apply for VISA (Not applicable for Canadian students)

Step 4: ASIST

• Claim your ASIST Account. Go to www.liberty.edu > myLU Sign-in > Claim New Account
• Complete Financial Check-In/Select Housing
• Register for Courses
• Complete Online Health Form (must have TB test taken within 6 months of arrival)
• Health Insurance Information
  Log onto ASIST and register with FERPA.

Step 5: Attend

• Submit your picture for your Flames Pass. This serves as your student ID. Click here for your Flames Pass photo requirements.

Accepted International Law School Students

Instructions for obtaining your I-20:

• Submit required documents: Graduate Financial Affidavit
• Copy of Passport photo page.
• Submit documents by fax to (434) 522-0430

Upon receipt of the required documents we will issue you an I-20 by fedex.

Submit Admissions Requirements

Applicants interested in a fall semester admission should have their application file complete by March 1 of that year.

Applicants interested in a spring semester admission should have their application file complete by September 1 of the previous year.
