Prepare for your government or public administration career with a degree from the Helms School of Government at Liberty University. Our programs offer associate, bachelor's, and master’s degrees, as well as a minor, all taught from a Christian perspective.

In our government programs, you’ll learn how a system of limited government, along with a commitment to a free enterprise allows for the fullest and freest expression of human community.

With our political science degrees, you learn about the theory and study of politics. And in public/fire administration, you’ll prepare for a career in the management and administration of public sector organizations.

Our goal is to inspire and produce action-oriented students who will become Christ-centered statesmen, administrators, scholars, and policymakers. Prepare to become a highly qualified leader in your chosen career field where you can impact the world.

  • A.A. in Government

    Gain a clear understanding of the issues, interest, and institutions of American politics, and study the ongoing struggle between liberalism and conservatism. 

  • B.S. in Fire Administration

    Gain a broad knowledge base and training that will increase your ability to think critically and make sound and effective decisions under the pressures of emergency management. 

  • B.A. in Government

    Learn more about the close relationship between a system of limited constitutional government and the free enterprise economy. With the B.A., you'll incorporate a liberal arts focus into your degree with a language component.

  • B.S. in Government

    Develop a firm foundation in the biblical principles of civic government. Get a historically accurate education in American government at all levels.

  • B.S. in Political Science

    Gain insight into the concepts, methodologies, and theories of the science of politics.

  • B.S. in Public Administration

    Develop the critical thinking skills and gain the knowledge necessary to lead as a Public Administrator.

  • Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.)

    Become equipped for a career in government, the private sector, or nonprofit organizations by being educated to master the necessary written and verbal communications skills essential in public administration.

  • M.S. in Political Science

    Develop a deeper understanding of the theory and practice of politics, both domestically and internationally.

  • Doctor of Public Administration (D.P.A.)

    Throughout this degree, you’ll explore the administrative functions of governmental agencies and gain experience in strategic planning, program implementation, advanced management techniques, and results-based leadership. You can take on positions in higher education as an administrator or professor. You’ll have the option of working as a civil servant, politician, consultant, or grants writer.
