Mrs. Dunlop who joined Heritage in 1998 is now The Heritage Foundation’s vice president who oversees four program areas, Coalition, Relations, Lectures and Seminars, Young Leaders Program and Strategic Outreach – that are focused on spreading conservative ideas in a host of outside forums. Her responsibilities include advising and consulting with fellow leaders in the private and public sectors. She previously served inside the White House, at the Department of Justice and at the Department of the Interior as a senior official in the Reagan administration from 1981-1989. She ran her own strategic management and communications consulting firm, Century Communications, and also served from 1994-98 as secretary of natural resources in Virginia under Gov. George Allen. |

On Thursday October 28, the President of CWA, Ms. Wendy Wright spoke about the atrocities of abortion and the different challenges CWA has faced speaking out against the act. She told stories about injustices small factions of anti-abortion protestors, including herself, had faced when merely praying outside of clinics. With constitutional rights on the line, several injunctions and cases filed against her had traveled through state and the national supreme courts. |

Dorothy Helms visited the Helms School of Government on Sept. 24, 2010, along with her children Charles Helms, Nancy Griggs and Jane Knox. Helms is the wife of the late N.C. Senator Jesse Helms for whom the school was named after. Chancellor Jerry Falwell announced plans to build a free-standing building for the HSOG and the introduction of a new course. |

David Gibbs is a practicing attorney at law at the Gibbs Law Firm in Tampa Florida. He is author of the book Fighting for Dear Life and the host of the radio show program The Legal Alert. He made national recognition when he defended the family of the nationally reknown controversial case of Terry Schiavo. He visited Liberty University Helms School of Government on April 22, 2010, and spoke about the relationships between the constitution and the Schiavo case. He was also present for the highly anticipated launch of the Journal for the Christian Pre-Law Society. |

Tim Goeglein is currently serving as the Vice President of External Relations for Focus on the Family Action and he is a former special assistant to President George W. Bush, a former deputy director of the White House Office of Public Liaison, and a former communications director for Gary Bauer at the Campaign for Working Families and U.S. Senator Dan Coats of Indiana. The event was supported by Liberty University's College Republicans and Pi Sigma Alpha and was hosted by the Helms School of Government. Mr. Goeglein spoke to students on topics including: "Impact of Christian Worldview on Policy Formulation", "Integration of Faith and Public Life", and "Practical Governance and the Absence of Constitutional Considerations." |

John Kiriakou is a retired CIA Operations Officer and author of the book The Reluctant Spy. He is remembered for being a factor to bringing the CIA's waterboarding scandal to light. He addressed Helms School students on various topics that included his book, his experiences in the CIA, and his wisdom of how Christians in intelligence work should define a moral standard. |

His Excellency Ambassador Batu Kutelia, who was the former Georgian Minister of Defense, is the Georgian representative to the United States and is currently involved with maintaining relations between the United States and the nation of Georgia. The Ambassador spoke on the topic: "The United States and Georgia: Shared Interests and the South Caucasus," and hosted an in-depth and detailed Q & A session for students. |

Professor Stephen Bloom is a reputable Christian profesor, attorney, and columnist. His experience and accomplishments include author of The Believer's Guide to Legal Issues, twenty-two years of experience and private practice in law, an adjunct instructor in Management and Business at Messiah College, a consultant to the United Methodist Stewardship Foundation of Central Pennsylvania, and a columnist for Crosswalk.com. Topics of speech included: "What Happens When You Give Your Law License To God?" and "Legal Advice Christians Should Refuse to Follow," followed by a Q & A session. |
