Mrs. Jamaica Conner

Title:

Department Chair

Biographical Information:

Prior to teaching ENGL 100 for Liberty University Online and serving as a Department Chair for the College of General Studies, Mrs. Conner taught English and Advanced English at Amherst County High School nestled in the mountainous county of Amherst, Virginia. She has taught English at the middle and high school levels in private and public institutions since she graduated from Liberty University in 1998. In June of that same year, she married her high school sweetheart, Terry Conner, who is a Department Chair for Liberty University’s School of Business.

They currently live on a farm in Amherst, Virginia, surrounded by mountains and cows a-plenty.  They both share a love for family, teaching, reading, music, theatre, movies, and popcorn. They have two daughters: Laura Grace, a spunky and fun 6-year-old and Marianna Cadence, a 1-year-old sweetheart.  Being an online instructor has afforded Mrs. Conner the opportunity to work from home, and she is so grateful to God for providing the opportunity to work with Liberty University Online (LUO) while taking care of her little ones.  She has served as a professor for LUO since 2007, after she received her Masters of Education in Teaching and Learning. In 2011, she wrote the book Sparky's ABC Adventure, a children's ABC book about Liberty University's eagle mascot and our awesome school.

This school and ministry have both been a huge part of Mrs. Conner's life, even before she was born.  Her mom and dad met at Liberty.  Her mom was one of the first students in 1971, and her dad was in the first graduating class.  Her grandfather, Doug Oldham, sang for the Liberty and TRBC ministries from the 70's until his home going in 2010.  Mrs. Conner loves Liberty, and feels very blessed that God brought her family here ages ago to learn and to serve and to pass that legacy on to her, as she shares it with her students and her own children.
