Liberty University strives for each student to attain technological proficiency and thus requires that all students complete a technology competency requirement. There are two ways to do this: passing the Computer Assessment OR completing Information Technology 110.
All new students, both freshmen and transfer (who have financially checked into Liberty), have the option to take the Computer Assessment during the Summer 2013 orientation sessions at one of the following sessions:
If a student does not attempt (or pass) the Computer Assessment during their first semester at Liberty, they are required to take Information Technology 110 (INFT 110) during their first 45 hours at Liberty or first year if a transfer student. Successfully passing the Computer Assessment or passing INFT 110 will satisfy the technology competency requirement as listed on the Degree Completion Plan (DCP).
Transfer students who have transferred in a computer course that has been substituted for INFT 110 have satisfied the technology competency requirement and do not need to take the assessment.
Students opting to take the Computer Assessment will be charged a one-time fee of $55 to cover the cost of the Computer Assessment software (myitlab). If a student attempts the assessment but does not pass, the myitlab account can be used for INFT 110 and the student will not be charged an additional fee.
If you have questions, please email us at inft@liberty.edu.
