Technology Requirements for 2014-2015

All Freshmen and Transfer Computing Students entering Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 are expected to meet the following technology requirements:

Please note that the laptop computer requirements for the School of Engineering & Computational Sciences are different from the general University requirements.   All Freshmen and transfer Engineering students entering Fall 2014, or Spring 2015 are required to meet the minimum laptop computer requirements. 

Please note that all students have access to Microsoft's Dreamspark and VM Ware Academic Software free of charge.

Engineering  & Computing Computer Requirements
(Windows Systems)

Computer Type PC-Intel
Operating System PC: Windows 7 Professional / Windows 8.1 Professional 64-bit
Processor Minimum iCore 5 (or equivalent) - iCore 7 (or equivalent) preferred
Memory (RAM) Minimum 8GB - 16GB Recommended
Hard Drive 250 GB Hybrid or Solid State (SSD)
Optical Drive DVD+/-RW (or External) 
Network Wireless 802.11 a/g/n and Gigabit ethernet - 802.11ac Recommended if available
Additional Built in webcam, USB hard drive (not required, but recommended)
Warranty 3 year warranty with accidental damage - 4 year recommended
