A Computer Engineer researches, designs and develops computer hardware, which includes computer chips, microprocessors, circuit boards, computer systems and related equipment. The field of Computer Engineering combines key elements of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering with software design and hardware-software integration.
Our Computer Engineering program will provide an overview of the foundational principles needed to design and build tomorrow’s computer hardware. Specific outcomes and learning objectives of this major allow students to demonstrate: professional and ethical responsibility; the ability to apply probability and statistics appropriately; a knowledge of scientific and mathematical principles necessary to analyze and design complex digital systems; the ability to identify and solve engineering problems; the ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.
At Liberty University School of Engineering and Computational Sciences, the Computer Engineering program provides an overview of the foundational principles of computer science and electrical engineering. Our primary goal is to develop Christ-centered men and women with the values, knowledge and skills essential to positively influence computer engineering related industries.
Liberty University’s 134-hour Bachelor of Science program in Computer Engineering requires students to take 57 hours of coursework in engineering, and another 32 hours in math and science in addition to the general education requirements. Within the major requirements, student will complete a Senior Capstone Project.
