Technology Requirements 2012-13

All Freshmen and Transfer Computing Students entering
Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 are expected to purchase the following items:

ENGINEERING MAJORS

Please note that the laptop computer requirements for the School of Engineering & Computational Sciences are different from the general University requirements.   All Freshmen and transfer Engineering students entering Fall 2012, or Spring 2013 are required to meet the minimum laptop computer requirements.

All incoming Engineering Freshmen and transfer students are required to purchase the following software packages:

• MatLab with Simulink ($99 download).  This software is required for all engineering students.
• Microsoft Office Enterprise or Mac Office 2011 ($62.35 from LU IT Marketplace)
• National Instruments Multisim (Window required)

Computer Type	PC or Mac-Intel
Operating System	PC: Windows 7 Professional / Mac: OS X
Processor	Minimum iCore 5 (or equivalent) - iCore 7 (or equivalent) preferred
Memory (RAM)	Minimum 4GB - 6 to 8GB preferred
Hard Drive	250 GB or greater
Optical Drive	DVD+/-RW
Network	Wireless 802.11 a/g/n and Gigabit ethernet
External Backup	500GB or better USB hard drive (not required, but recommended)
Additional	Built in webcam and at least 3 year warranty (recommended)
