Student Teaching/Internship Deadlines

Accepting First Submission Applications during this timeframe

Initial Status Responses:  Candidates are informed of their status during this timeframe.

Status may be:  Approved or Denied

Sept. 15 - Oct. 1

Candidates must have an answer by Oct. 1 through email and by Livetext rubric that states their status

Feb. 15 - March 1

Candidates must have an answer by March 1 through email and by Livetext rubric that states their status
Revision Window Candidates use these two weeks to fix any problems associated with the first submission application.  They will resubmit the revised application during this window.

Sept. 15 - Oct. 1

No resubmissions will be accepted after the 1st

Feb. 15 - March 1

Revised Application Resubmission  - FINAL DEADLINE!!!

Candidates must resubmit the revised application by this final date.

Practicum

  • EDUC 698/696 Practicum (Non-licensure) Application
    Complete a “Non-Licensure Gate 3 Application” on LiveText (directions).  You will need a Gate 2 Acceptance letter, a completed DCP Audit, the semester and term (B or D term of a Fall, Spring, or Summer) in which you wish to take the course, and a full background check report (including Criminal Background, FBI Fingerprinting, and the VA Child Abuse forms).  Please note that this course must be taken in your final semester and term.
     
  • EDUC 698 vs. EDUC 696
    We highly recommend that you take EDUC 698, as it will give you experience for your resume and portfolio, as well as potential connections with employers.  EDUC 696 was created specifically for the following students: those with military orders having the inability to complete the practicum hours, a flagged background check with SOE approval to continue without practicum hours, and other approved circumstances.  Students who choose this path (EDUC 696) will not be eligible for ACSI certification.

Gate 3 Requirements

  • Cumulative GPA
    • Licensure = 2.5
    • Non-Licensure= 2.0
  • Licensure ONLY
    • Licensure tests passed and official copies on file in Licensure Office
    • Residency requirements met at Liberty (9 hrs. minimum; 12 hrs. for School Counseling)

It is the candidate's responsibility to secure forms and materials necessary to apply for Admission to Student Teaching (Gate 3). >The deadlines for student teaching are very important to allow time for the school in which you would like to do your student teaching to confirm your arrival and complete any of their requirements such as background checks, fingerprinting, etc.  It also allows Liberty time to approve the school, cooperating teacher, and On-site/University Supervisor and to requisition pay for these important members of the team, as well as prepare and send training materials.  We currently have more than five hundred student teachers each year, which requires organization and support from our offices to arrange a successful experience for each of you.   Thank you for understanding and for complying with these important deadlines.
