Sport Industry Experience
Dr. Thomas Mingus assisted in various duties and capacities for the PGA Nike Tour Cleveland Open golf tournament where he obtained valuable experience in management of a professional athletic event. He was a sports broadcaster for Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s radio station for the university’s baseball and softball teams during the 2002 season. In addition, he served as an assistant coach for the MVNU baseball team during the 2003 baseball season. As a graduate student, Mingus obtained first-hand experience managing, budgeting and financing an athletic event as a co-manager of the 2005 Slippery Rock University Sport Management Golf Tournament. He also conducted and wrote a risk management analysis for the New Castle (Pa.) YMCA Sports Zone in 2005.
Biography
Mingus was born in Painesville, Ohio, the middle child in between two siblings. He is a current resident of York, Pa. He played organized baseball for almost 20 years, and organized football for seven years. Mingus co-wrote a Civil War book with his brother, entitled "Human Interest Stories of the Civil War." In addition to being a published author, he had photographs published in the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star and in his father’s book, "Flames Beyond Gettysburg: The Gordon Expedition, June 1863." He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, reading, sports and watching movies. He is an avid fan of the Mets, Bears, Bulls and Ohio State Buckeyes. He is passionate about helping others as they grow both spiritually and professionally.
