After two years as the Headmaster of Tennessee Temple Academy in Chattanooga, TN, Dr. Pearson has returned to Liberty University as the Chair of On-line Education for the School of Education. She works from her home in North Georgia (just outside of Chattanooga, TN).
Her teaching ministry began with several years in K-12 teaching, both in Christian and public schools. Dr. Pearson served for more than thirty-two years at Tennessee Temple University, teaching in the School of Education and in administration. In 2003, she and her husband left Chattanooga to serve for a short time with ACE and the Christian Law Association in Largo, FL. They left there and moved to Lynchburg, VA, for her to teach in Liberty University’s Graduate School of Education and then to serve as the Associate Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness, before they returned to the Chattanooga area.
Her related educational experience includes serving on both the Commission for Accreditation of the Association for Biblical Higher Education (then the American Association of Bible Colleges) and Secretary of the Executive Committee and Commission for Accreditation of the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools.
For many years Dr. Pearson has spoken at Christian school conventions throughout the East. Her expertise in reading and language arts has made her a popular speaker in many venues.
Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in English from Tennessee Temple University in 1967, a Master of Science in Education from Illinois State University in 1970, and a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Tennessee in 1990.
Originally from Wheelersburg, Ohio, Dr. Pearson moved at the age of 10, with her family to Chattanooga, TN, for her father to attend Tennessee Temple University. Many years later, while teaching at TTU, she met her husband, Ted, who is from Tuscaloosa, AL. He served as the manager of the printing ministry at TTU for more than 20 years, then was in business for himself, and now is working in a local printing plant.
Dr. Pearson and her husband, Ted, have two married sons, Mark and Jay. Mark and his wife, Sarah, live down the street from the Pearsons and have two children, Micaiah (6-yrs old) and Cherith (3-yrs old). Jay and his wife, Katrina, who live in Largo, FL, have one child, Taylor Joan, born on February 26, 2009.
The Pearsons are active members of the Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga. Ted is a deacon and Connie sings in the choir and is active in women’s ministries.
