Testing Requirements for Licensure Programs
 
What are the required tests for the Liberty Teacher Education Licensure Programs?

  • Elementary and Special Education Majors – must have:
    1. Praxis I Math (or SAT/ACT substitution scores) - This should be taken your freshman year and you must receive at least probationary score status to register for EDUC 225/226 and EDUC 240.
    2. VCLA - Virginia Communication and Literacy Assessment:  This should be taken your freshman year.  You must receive passing scores to register for EDUC 225/226 and EDUC 240.
    3. Praxis II:  RVE- Reading for Virginia Educators:  This should be taken right after you complete EDUC 317/318/319 block.  It must be passed BEFORE you can apply and register for student teaching (EDUC 475/476/477).
    4. Praxis II:  Content (specific to endorsement area) - This should be taken your junior/senior year.  It must be passed BEFORE you can apply and register for student teaching (EDUC 475/476/477).  
  • Secondary Majors - must have:
    • Praxis I Math (or SAT/ACT substitution scores) - This should be taken your freshman year and you must receive at least probationary score status to register for EDUC 235/236 and EDUC 240 and KINE 245.
    • VCLA - This should be taken your freshman year.  You must receive passing scores to register for EDUC 235/236 and EDUC 240 and KINE 245.
    • Praxis II:  Content (specific to endorsement area) - This should be taken your junior/senior year.  It must be passed BEFORE you can apply and register for student teaching (EDUC 475/476/477).
