Early Childhood Add On Licensure: An initial elementary teaching license is required for candidates seeking the early childhood add on license. The supervised practicum (EDUC 698) required for this program must be completed in a preschool setting (with three- and four-year olds) in a public school or an accredited nonpublic school. The candidate must have at least 45 instructional hours in these areas.
Gifted Add On Licensure: An initial elementary, special education, or secondary teaching license is required for candidates seeking the gifted add on license. The supervised practicum (EDUC 698) must include teaching experiences with gifted students in a heterogeneously grouped (mixed ability) classroom or a homogeneously grouped (single ability) classroom. The candidate must have at least 45 instructional hours in these areas.
Middle School Add on Licensure: An initial elementary teaching license is required for candidates seeking the middle school add on license. The supervised practicum (EDUC 698) must include teaching experiences in a middle school 6-8 grade classroom. Must meet content competencies and pass Praxis II Middle School test for one of the following: math, English, social studies, or science.
