Master of Education (M.Ed.)
Administration & Supervision - Licensure
Requirements:
- State teaching licensure required: elementary, secondary or special education
- Three years of teaching experience required (may be acquired during M.Ed. program)
- Intensives: EDUC 641, 645 and any other 600-level intensive as an elective (three intensives are required)
- Must have one year of experience prior to internship
- Field experiences and internship EDUC 699-A01

Licensure test by Gate 3 (passing score PRIOR to internship)
- VIRGINIA CANDIDATES for preK-12 principal or assistant principal must pass the SLLA with a minimum score of 163. The only Virginia candidates exempt from the SLLA are those seeking a license strictly for district office service.

OUT-OF-STATE-CANDIDATES are to pass their own state’s designated licensure exam. If their state does not have a licensure exam, they must meet the Virginia passing scores on the SLLA.

- Degree Completion Plan and Course Sequencing Guide
- FES: Field Experience Summary: Record on this form all field experiences, including course-embedded practicums and the internship. Submit it in every course that requires a field experience.
- Course-Embedded Practicum Proposal Form: (Revised 4/6/12) This form includes a plan to assist in arranging course-embedded field experiences. The following courses require 30-clock-hour field experiences for licensure: EDUC 640, 646, 647, 648, 740, 742.
- FEA: Field Experience Assessment: Print this for each course-embedded field experience. Have your onsite mentor complete it. Upload it into LiveText by the end of every term in which a practicum is required.
- ACA: Advanced Competency Assessment-Administration: The ACA form will be completed by your internship onsite supervisor upon completion of EDUC 699-01.
