RVE (Reading for Virginia Educators) - [Test Code: 5306 or 0306]

SOPHOMORE or JUNIOR YEAR: The RVE (Reading for Virginia Educators) must be taken by Elementary and Special Education Majors only. The RVE should be taken directly following the EDUC 317, 318, 319 block.  The RVE must be passed before applying to Gate 3 (student teaching).

Some helpful hints for preparing for the RVE:

  • Complete reading methods course prior to the test
    (EDUC 317/318/319)
  • Register for the correct test
       - RVE: Elementary and Special Education (5306 or 0306)
  • Prepare for the test using ETS study materials
  • Review the booklet Put Reading First
    • DVD's of Put Reading First are also on reserve in the Curriculum Library (Students may request to view these videos in the Curriculum Library.)
