90.9 The Light Practicum

This course provides opportunities to apply lessons learned in the classroom through the operation of 90.9 The Light, the Liberty University campus radio station. The semester-long practicum is designed to teach the day-to-day operations of a radio station while students train for live broadcasting or behind the scenes work.

90.9:

• Is a community radio station reaching up to 250,000 people in Lynchburg and surrounding counties
• Broadcasts music and Liberty University athletics
• Has a staff of a dozen managers with up to 100 students working per semester

The 90.9 Practicum offers students:

• Exposure to every aspect of a radio station
• Opportunities in news, sports, music, sales, production, office management, social media, and more
• Course credit and resume-building experience
• Training in state-of-the-art audio equipment and software
