The Policy Lab

The POLICY LAB (June 23-June 29 OR June 30-July 6 - $450 resident / $150 commuter) is a one week policy lab for intermediate to advanced debaters.  This lab focuses exclusively on skills development with numerous practice debates throughout the week. The debaters also benefit from individual and small group instruction research techniques, debate theory, and in-round strategy.




John Nagy, Assistant Director of Debate, Liberty University - Policy Lab Instructor: Coach Nagy was a varsity debater for Mary Washington University where he traveled extensively to regional and national tournaments and was a second alternate to the NDT. He also won the ADA National Tournament in both novice and junior varsity. He has a master’s degree in secondary education from George Washington University.

Nick Ryan, Assistant Director of Debate, Liberty University - Policy Lab Leader:  Coach Ryan debated for Iowa City West High School, Iowa City, IA and was a Tournament of Champions (TOC) qualifier. As a varsity debater for Mary Washington University he qualified to the NDT three times and won the University of Richmond Tournament. He also won the junior varsity division and First Speaker at the ADA National Tournament his freshman year.
