2009 Liberty Debate Institute (LDI)

Announcing LDI 2009!

The Liberty Debate Institute offers labs featuring low debater-instructor ratios, individual skills practice, and topic specific instruction. Each debater receives more than 300 pages of ready to run evidence specific to the 2009-2010 NFL policy topic. 

No Hidden Costs! LDI prices include tuition, housing, meals and free on-site photo copying, free computer account and printing, and free copies of lab specific evidence. All camp sponsored activities are also free including trips to the movies, basketball, dodge ball, swimming, and game nights with miniature golf and go-karts for three week labs.
LDI participants have been VHSL State Champions 15 times and qualified to the VHSL State Tournament more than 58 times! Come improve YOUR skills at a winning summer debate camp!

Labs

The Future Champions Lab
(June 21-27) is a one week beginner’s lab for students with no previous policy debate experience. In this lab, beginners will gain the skills and knowledge to begin debating immediately and participate in practice debates.
 
The Skills Lab (June 21-27) is a one week policy lab for intermediate to advanced debaters. This lab focuses exclusively on skills development with numerous practice debates throughout the week. The debaters also benefit from individual and small group instruction research techniques, debate theory, and in-round strategy.

THE RESEARCH LAB (June 21-July 4) is a two week policy lab featuring a balance of skills development, theory instruction, and topic research. Each debater receives additional research on specific affirmative and negative strategies.
 
THE ELITE PERFORMANCE LAB (June 21-July 11) is a three week policy lab tailored exclusively for the championship debater. It features personalized debate instruction, small group theory, kritik, strategy, and topic discussions as well as one-on-one skills development. Each debater receives additional research on specific affirmative and negative strategies.
 
The Lincoln-Douglas Lab (June 21-27) is a one week lab for Lincoln-Douglas Debaters of all levels and features numerous practice debates, small group political philosophy discussions, and individualized skills and strategy development. Debaters learn theory and practice writing and debating affirmative and negative cases for future topics. 

THE STUDENT CONGRESS LAB  NEW! (June 21-27) is a one week lab for Student Congress participants. In this lab debaters learn how to draft legislation, to use parliamentary procedure and Robert’s Rules of Order, to deliver persuasive speeches, and to improve their critical thinking skills. Debaters will also participate in numerous practice congressional sessions.
 
The Home School Institute (June 28-July 11) is a two week lab exclusively for home schooled debaters. Debaters research the 2009-2010 NCFCA topic and receive quality theory and strategy instruction.

The Coaches’ Workshop (June 21-27) is open to coaches or sponsors of all experience levels. Participants in the workshop will receive three credits of Continuing Education Units (CEU) for instruction from the Liberty Debate Institute faculty.
