KP Alumni Spotlight

Justin Dee is the Assistant Athletic Director and Head Volleyball Coach at Simpson College in Redding, California and is loving it.

Coach Justin Dee enters his second year coaching the Lady Vanguard. The Vanguard Volleyball team finished the 2001 season with an 18-14 record and a fifth place finish nationally in the NCCAA II. They won their seventh straight regional championship, which led to their seventh straight national tournament invitation. Coach Dee was honored with two Coach of the Year awards; NCCAA II West Region and AVE Sports in his first year. The team was also honored with the highest team GPA for the Fall 2001 semester.

Dee received his Bachelor of Science degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. While at Liberty, Dee was a four year starting Middle Hitter for the Liberty University Men's club Volleyball team. He participated on the University's traveling drama team, The King's Players, and was on scholarship for playing his saxophone on the school's worship team and Spirit Band. After graduating from Liberty, Dee took a job as Head Volleyball Coach at Open Door Christian School in Tuscaloosa, AL. In his two years at Open Door, He compiled a 96-15 record. In 1999, his Junior varsity completed an undefeated 20-0 season and finished as state champions, while the varsity team finished fifth in the state. In 2000, the JV finished 25-5 and won it's second straight state championship, while the Varsity finished 34-4 and undefeated in the conference and also brought home a state championship. He was honored as the Coach of the Year in 2000. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Justin taught 8th-12th grade Mathematics and bible.

Justin is single and resides in Redding. His family resides in Orlando, FL. He has a brother, John, and two sisters, Sarah and Amanda. He is also gaining a sister-in-law this summer (congratulations John and Cari).
