Students entering into a course of study in Theatre Arts will first learn about the history of the theater as well as basic acting techniques. During the course of the student’s four years at Liberty University students will learn character development, various acting techniques and script analysis in addition to the knowledge, technique and expressions related to each individual performance/production area. Students will also learn to express thoughts in movement through theatrical conventions, as well as how Theatre Arts fits into a Christian worldview and how it can be applied in a professional setting.

During the course of the student’s four years, there will be many opportunities to hone his/her area of expertise as 6-8 productions a year are produced in the new 640-seat Tower Theater. Liberty University is also an active participant each year in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), Virginia Theatre Association (VTA), and the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC). Liberty Theatre Alumni have gone on to successful careers in acting, teaching and theatre production, as well as productive church ministries.

The Theatre Arts Handbook gives a comprehensive overview of theatre guidelines, grading policies and rubrics, and other pertinent information.
