WHEN IS TRANSFER STUDENT ORIENTATION?

For Fall 2009, Transfer Student Orientation will begin at 9:00 AM on Friday, August 21st in Campus North 1500.

WHAT IS TRANSFER STUDENT ORIENTATION?

Transfer Student Orientation is designed to provide you with pertinent information as you begin your first semester here.

The connections you establish in these first days and weeks at Liberty are vital for a positive transition.

We know you have questions based on your previous college or university experience, and we want to get you started on the path to academic success. You'll meet key people who can help you navigate this major transition in your academic career. Lunch will be provided.

(Orientation is required for all transfer students regardless of how many hours you transfer into Liberty.)

ORIENTATION SCHEDULE

9:00 - Welcome and Announcements!

9:30-10:30 - Session 1: The Big Picture presented by Dr. Brian Yates, Executive Director of the Center for Academic Support and Advising Services

10:30- Short Break

10:45 - Tau Sigma Transfer Honor Society Presentation

11:00-12:00 - Session 2: Career Planning and Success presented by Mrs. Carrie Barnhouse, Director of the Liberty University Career Center

12:00 - 1:00 Transfer Student Luncheon

HOW CAN I START LEARNING MORE ABOUT LIFE AT LIBERTY EVEN BEFORE I ARRIVE?

New Student Video	See an amazing overview of Liberty's vision and why current students believe choosing Liberty was the best choice they ever made.
Virtual Campus Tour	Whether you've never stepped foot on campus or you have been here for three College For A Weekends, you'll want to check out this cutting-edge tour of campus.
Student Blogs and Videos	After meeting these LU students from a variety of majors and view a wide variety of student-made movies and videos, you won't want to wait until Fall Orientation to come to LU.
GradQuest	User-friendly directions from the Center for Academic Support and Advising Services for successfully getting from your Freshman Year to Graduation without getting lost!
Academics	If you're unsure of what you want to major in, you might want to review the full list of academic majors or consider taking Career Direct, an online assessment that could help you select the right major for you. Then, you can learn how to officially declare your major.
Spiritual Life	Learn how you will connect with God through Campus Church services and awesome convocations on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and special missions opportunities.
Campus Recreation	You'll be amazed when you see how many opportunities Liberty offers for you to get involved, stay fit, and have fun!
Student Affairs	Learn all about living in the Liberty community with The Liberty Way, LU dress code for men and women, and meet the staff of the Student Conduct Office, the Student Care Office, the Center for Multicultural Enrichment and more!
Student Housing	Find out more about the different styles of residence halls and apartments on campus, and the Student Leadership provided.
LU Dining Services	Check out the 10 different locations across campus where you can eat and learn why you can't complain about bad food here at Liberty!
International Students Service Center	We presently enroll over 800 international students from over 75 foreign countries.
Center for Multicultural Enrichment	The Center for Multicultural Enrichment provides information and advocacy for students from various ethnic backgrounds through programs and services that promote unity and celebrate cultural diversity at Liberty University and in Central Virginia.
Parent Programs	Liberty's Parent Programs Office prepares and guides parents during the transitional phase of becoming a supportive Liberty parent and provides information regarding University resources, campus events and activities.
