Basic TES/FL Certificate Program

Course Description

Level I (of III)

This introductory TES/FL certificate course is designed to help participants:

  • Gain an overview of issues and concerns among English Language Learners (ELLs).
  • Develop skills to assess an ELL's proficiency level.
  • Create lessons with ELL needs in mind.

A 4.5 Continuing Education Unit (CEU) certificate will be awarded to those who complete the course.

The course consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction and a 15-hour practicum.

Nonnative English speakers must have a TOEFL score of 71 or higher to enroll in this course. Joanna Luper with any questions.

Instructor - Joanna Luper

Joanna has lived in Virginia all of her life except for five years when she taught English in Budapest, Hungary. She has the pleasure of assisting international students and LU with questions about their academics, cultural adjustment, and other services has to offer.

Joanna loves cooking, making crafts, and having fun with her husband and two small children.
