Psi Chi Honor Society

Membership Benefits

Psi Chi is the International Honor Society for Psychology. Membership in Psi Chi is an earned honor that lasts for life. A permanent record of your membership is preserved at the Psi Chi National Office and may be used for reference purposes such as applications for graduate school and jobs.

Psi Chi inductees are eligible to order and wear the Psi Chi honor cord at graduation. Copies of Psi Chi’s magazine, Eye on Psi Chi, are available on the national Psi Chi webpage. Psi Chi members are eligible to present research papers/posters at Psi Chi programs held at national and regional conventions. In addition, members may participate in Psi Chi’s undergraduate and graduate research award competitions, and undergraduate members may submit their research for publication in the Psi Chi Journal of Undergraduate Research. The names of new members and activities of chapters are published in Eye on Psi Chi.

Membership Eligibility

  • Must be registered as Psychology Major, Minor, or Graduate Student
  • Completion of at least 36 hours of college courses (this can include transfer courses)
  • Completion of at least 9 semester hours of Liberty Psychology courses or graduate counseling courses with a PSYC, MSPS, or counseling prefix, excluding PSYC 101, PSYC 150, and PSYC 210
  • GPA of at least 3.5 in Liberty Psychology or graduate counseling courses with a PSYC, MSPS, or counseling prefix, excluding PSYC 101, PSYC 150, and PSYC 210
  • Overall GPA of at least 3.5
  • Online payment of $10 through Venmo that covers the Liberty Chapter’s one-time dues
  • Completion of National Psi Chi application, which includes a one-time payment of $55.

Application Process

  • Complete the online National PsiChi application for national registration.
  • Complete and submit the Liberty Psi Chi Application.
    • During this process, you will be prompted to pay $10 for local membership fees through Venmo (@LibertyPsiChi).
    • No checks or cash will be accepted
  • After applying at both the local and national level, your application will be reviewed for eligibility.
  • Upon review and acceptance, you will receive an email prompting a one-time membership fee of $55 to the National Society.
  • After payment, you will be emailed with a discount code for the official membership certificate.
  • Please note that you must pay the one-time local dues ($10) and one-time Psi Chi national membership fee ($55) in order to become a member (there are no additional annual dues).

“Mentorship Workshop” presented by Psi Chi & Army ROTC

  • Date: September 5, 2023
  • Location: DeMoss Hall 4412
  • Time: 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Description: This event seeks to educate students on the effectiveness and necessity of mentorship from a professional and personal perspective. The event will start with a brief introduction to the literature behind mentorship and follow with an interactive workshop to have students engage with each other from a mentoring/advising perspective. Psych students can receive one Psych Credit by attending this event. 

“Psi Chi Community Event 1”

  • Date: September 18, 2023

  • Description: This event serves to develop the community of Psi Chi members through personal interaction, community engagement, and fun games!

“Peer Advising”

  • Date: October 9, 2023
  • Time: 3-5 p.m.
  • Location: School of Behavioral Sciences Lounge (The Fishbowl)
  • Description: This informal event is a time to ask your peers questions regarding class schedule, workload, study habits, and how to thrive during the semester. Learn from those who have gone before you on the best do’s and don’ts for academic success. 

“Psychology and Christianity Integration Panel”

  • Date: November 6, 2023
  • Location: DeMoss Hall 4412
  • Time: 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Description: This event seeks to expose students to different ways professionals in the fields of Psychology and Theology integrate their profession and their faith, realistically. The panel will have psychology professionals, pastors, counselors, and more. The event will start with a brief introduction of each panelist and will be followed by a facilitated Q&A. Students may ask the panel questions prior to the event by following @libertypsichi on Instagram. Students may receive one Psych Activity Credit for attending this event.
