President-Bryan Clark

"Hello! My name is Bryan Clark and I am both honored and excited to serve as your Band President for the 2014-2015 Academic Year.  I am senior Worship Studies major from Smith Mountain Lake Virginia, and am majoring on the trombone with a secondary instrument in voice. I have participated in the Liberty University Marching Band for 3 semesters now, moving into what will be my fourth incredible season with the band. I have also performed in the Liberty University Wind Ensemble for three semesters, sitting as the principle trombonist twice. I have also performed in the Liberty University Symphony Orchestra (Principle), the Liberty Univerity Jazz Ensemble,  the Liberty University Brass Quintet/Quartet, and the LiberTBones.  I have also had the blessing of serving as the Chaplain of the LU Band Program for two years prior to my current service as your President. Our program is one that puts Jesus Christ first, and exists to bring Him glory though everything we do: whether it is our rehearsals, nights of fellowship, or performances. I love our band and am excited to see all that God will do in and through the hearts and lives of our members as we minster both to each other and to the audiences for which we perform. This is going to the best Marching Band season yet! Let’s keep improving for His glory! -Psalm 33”

Vice President-Rebekah Neale

"Hi! My name is Rebekah Neale (or Reba) and I am the Vice President for the Liberty University Spirit of the Mountain Marching Band. I have been a member of the Spirit of the Mountain for two years playing the saxophone. I am a Business Management Major with specializations in Human Resource Management and Marketing and I plan to graduate in 2016. When I am not playing the saxophone in the Marching Band , Jazz band, or Wind Ensemble I can be found at the Tilley, ballin, or outside doing any kind of sport, and I also study occasionally (haha). I love Pride and Prejudice and Disney (of course), but most of all I love Jesus!"

Chaplain-Stephen Perkins, Jr.

"Hello, everyone! My name is Stephen Perkins, and I am very excited to be serving as your Chaplain this year! I have a strong passion striving for God's will for us, and how we can better ourselves each and everyday to give him the glory and praise he deserves! I love the fellowship we create in Christ during the year, it is truly spectacular. We become a family as brothers and sisters in Christ, and that is what makes this group so unique! I am from Williamsburg, Virginia and this will be my third year here at Liberty. I am currently pursuing a degree in Business administration; Human Resource Management. I play the Trumpet (best section!)  and have done so for 10 years now. I've participated in the Spirit of the Mountain, Wind Ensemble, and the Jazz Ensemble all for 2 years now. In my free time, I like to listen to music, play basketball, sleep in the hammock, spend time with friends, and meet new friends! So if you do not know me, come say hi, I love meeting new people!  I am SO very excited for this year and what The Lord has in store for all of us!"

I am majoring in Communications with an emphasis in Advertising and Public Relations and plan on graduating in 2016 (fingers crossed!). When I’m not spending time with my Spirit of the Mountain family, I also enjoy serving the Lord by playing the piano at church and spending time with my wonderful family in my hometown of Bakersfield, CA."

Social Media-Stephanie Kerr

"Hello everyone! My name is Stephanie Kerr and I will be your Social Media officer for the 2014 season of the Liberty University Marching Band: The Spirit of the Mountain. I have had the opportunity to play piccolo and flute in the Marching Band and the Spring Wind Ensemble for a year now, and am excited to be able to not only share the next 3 years with you all, but to also have the privilege of being on your leadership team! I am a Psychology major with a focus in Counseling and Human Development and I plan on graduating in 2017 and jumping right into a Master's program here at Liberty! My goal is to be involved with missions, either short-term or long-term, and serve where the Lord calls me. When I'm not at Marching Band or Wind Ensemble, I am working at Cracker Barrel, reading, or doing just about any outdoor activity with my friends. I hope you all are looking forward to having a great season in the Liberty University Marching Band with all of us as much as I am! See you in August!"

Christian Service-Bethany McDonald

"Hello everyone!  My name is Bethany McDonald and I have the privilege of serving as your Christian Service (CSER) Officer.  I have been a member of "The Spirit of the Mountain" for one year, playing the alto saxophone, along with playing the oboe in Liberty's Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Woodwind Quintet.  I'm a sophmore double-major in graphic desin and music, and I'm from Stafford, Virginia.  A few fun things I love to during free time are hiking, relaxing in my Eno, crafting, and just hanging out with my friends!  I'm beyond excited to get to know all of you - I know God is going to do some GREAT and exciting things this coming year!"

Field Leadership

Head Field Commander-Daniel Spencer

Daniel Spencer, from Roanoke, Virginia, is a senior at Liberty this fall serving as the Head Field Commander for the Liberty University Marching Band: The Spirit of the Mountain. He is currently studying Music Education, and he plays the saxophone, piano and sings. Daniel has been a member of both the Marching Band and the Wind Ensemble since the 2011-2013 academic year, serving two years ago as the CSER (Christian Service) Officer. “I am very excited about this coming marching season as well as the coming spring. I look forward to meeting every single one of you. If you ever need anything I am here. See you soon!” Daniel plans on teaching high school band out of state, or wherever God leads him, and possibly get his masters along the way.

Field Commander-Ashley Cypher

Ashley from Palmyra, Pennsylvania, will be a sophomore at Liberty in the fall and will be serving as one of your field commanders. She is currently pursuing a degree in music education in hopes to teach at the high school or collegiate level. She would also like to perform when she is not teaching. She marched alto saxophone in the 2013 LU Marching Band, performed with the jazz band, and played clarinet in the wind ensemble. "I am very excited to be a part of the Liberty University Marching Band again and I look forward to working with all of the wonderful people performing in this ensemble for God's glory." For fun Ashley likes to run, watch movies, and any sports activity.

Field Commander-Mark McDonald

Mark McDonald, from Stafford, Virginia, will be a Sophomore at Liberty University this fall studying Music Education. This is his second year with "The Spirit of the Mountain," and before he became a Field Commander he played Mellophone in the ensemble and also was the Horn section leader for the LU Wind Ensemble during the 2014 season. Mark enjoys reading, hiking, camping, running-pretty much anything involving the outdoors in some capacity. "I am so excited to see how God is going to work through us this season! I cannot wait to get to know all of the new members and serve them through this position God has given me!" After obtaining his undergraduate degree in 2017 (let's hope!) Mark plans to move on to graduate school and study Horn Performance. A verse that Mark really identifies with is Romans 8:28-

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
