President-Rebekah Neale

"Hi! My name is Rebekah Neale (or Reba) and I am the President for the Liberty University Spirit of the Mountain Marching Band. I have been a member of the Spirit of the Mountain for three years playing the saxophone. I am a Business Management Major with specializations in Human Resource Management and Marketing and I plan to graduate in 2016. When I am not playing the saxophone in the Marching Band , Jazz band, or Wind Symphony I can be found at the Tilley, ballin, or outside doing any kind of sport, and I also study occasionally (haha). I love Pride and Prejudice and Disney (of course), but most of all I love Jesus!"

Vice President-Stephen Perkins, Jr.

"Hello, everyone! My name is Stephen Perkins, and I am very excited to be serving as your Vice President this year! I have a strong passion striving for God's will for us, and how we can better ourselves each and everyday to give him the glory and praise he deserves! I love the fellowship we create in Christ during the year, it is truly spectacular. We become a family as brothers and sisters in Christ, and that is what makes this group so unique! I am from Williamsburg, Virginia and this will be my fourth year here at Liberty. I am currently pursuing a degree in Business administration; Human Resource Management. I play the Trumpet (best section!)  and have done so for 11 years now. I've participated in the Spirit of the Mountain, Wind Symphony, and the Jazz Ensemble all for 3 years now. In my free time, I like to listen to music, play basketball, sleep in the hammock, spend time with friends, and meet new friends! So if you do not know me, come say hi, I love meeting new people!  I am SO very excited for this year and what The Lord has in store for all of us!"

Chaplain-Cameron Monari

Hello friends! My name is Cameron Monari and I am excited to be the band chaplain this year and proud to serve the Spirit of the Mountain Marching band, as well as the Wind Symphony. I have a passion to help others and I pray that I can be a Christ-Like example for others to follow. This is my Senior year and I am an Elementary Education Major and will be obtaining my Middle School Endorsement with a concentration in Science. I play the Trumpet in the marching band and Euphonium for the Wind Symphony. I love playing and watching sports and I have completed a Spartan Race, and I hope to run more in the future. I am easy to get along with and am willing to meet new people and talk about whatever you need to talk about. I pray that our time together this year will help each of us to grow in our relationships with Christ. I pray that the Lord will provide us with amazing opportunities and I cannot wait to make new friends this year!"

Hello everyone! My name is Stephanie Kerr and I am the Secretary and Treasury officer for the 2015 season of the Liberty University Marching Band: The Spirit of the Mountain. I have had the opportunity to play piccolo and flute in the Marching Band and the Spring Wind Symphony for the past two years now, and as I am finishing my undergraduate degree in 3 years, I am excited to spend my last year with YOU! I am a Psychology major with a focus in Counseling and Human Development and I will be walking in May 2016 and jumping right into a Master's program here at Liberty! My career goal is to work with member care within missions organizations, ensuring the mental health of their missionaries. When I'm not at Marching Band or Wind Symphony, I am working at Cracker Barrel or at an awesome shoe store in Boonsboro called MustHaveShoes, reading, or doing just about any outdoor activity with my friends. I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for the Spirit of the Mountain this year!

Social Media-Bethany McDonald

Hello everyone!  My name is Bethany McDonald and I have the privilege of serving the band as the Social Media Officer. This is my third year marching alto saxophone in the marching band, along with playing oboe in the Wind Symphony here at Liberty.  I'm a junior in the BFA Graphic Design program and my family and I have recently moved to Lynchburg, making Lynchburg now my permanent home.  I enjoy hiking and relaxing in my Eno, crafting, hand-lettering, and anything and everything associated with Fall! I'm beyond excited to get to know all of you - I know God is going to do some wonderful and exciting things this coming year!

James 1:2-4

Christian Service-Timothy Murphy

HelloBand!  I am super excited to be able to march with you again.  My name is Timothy Murphy, and I am your Christian Service officer.  With that being said, can I just say….I love band!  It is a joy for me to be back at Liberty with you again.  I am in my sophomore year in the music education department.  With this, I desire to one day be a band director.  My primary instrument is the trumpet.  In addition to playing in the marching band, I participate in Wind Symphony and Brass Chambers.

Field Leadership

Head Field Commander-Ashley Cypher

Ashley Cypher, from Palmyra, Pennsylvania, will be serving as your head field commander this fall. Ashley will be a junior this year, pursuing a degree in music education. She has performed as a field commander last year and as a part of the saxophone section in the 2013 season. She has also been a part of the Wind Symphony, Jazz Ensemble, and Clarinet Ensemble.

"I can't wait for this season to start. It is always an adventure and I am happy to be a part of the Liberty University Marching Band again. I look forward to working with all of the wonderful people performing in this ensemble for God's glory. It is going to be a blast!"

In her free time Ashley likes to do sports, watch movies, and hang out with friends.

Field Commander-Mark McDonald

Mark McDonald, from Stafford, Virginia, will be a Junior at Liberty University this fall studying Music Education. This is his third year with "The Spirit of the Mountain."  He served as a Field Commander in 2014, and was a member of the Mellophone section in 2013.  He also served as the Horn section leader for the LU Wind Symphony during the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

"I am so excited to see how God is going to work through us this season! I cannot wait to get to know all of the new members and serve them through this position God has given me!" After obtaining his undergraduate degree in 2017 (let's hope!) Mark plans to move on to graduate school and study Horn Performance. A verse that Mark really identifies with is Romans 8:28-"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

Mark enjoys reading, hiking, camping, running-pretty much anything involving the outdoors in some capacity.

Field Commander-Kaleb Gooden

Hey everybody! My name is Kaleb Gooden and I am one of the Field Commanders in the Liberty University Marching Band this year.  I am from Statesville, North Carolina and I’m a Senior at LU and double majoring in Worship Studies and Film Scoring!  This is my fourth year performing with the Spirit of the Mountain and my eighth overall year of marching band.  Although I am conducting this year, I spent three years here in the saxophone section.  An interesting fact about me is that I am the middle child in a set of triplets!

I’m really looking forward to this marching band season and cannot wait to see the great things that the Lord is going to accomplish through each of you and through this group as a whole!
