Dr. Michael A. Davis joined the staff of Liberty University in August of 2005. He has a passion for 20th Century political history and the American presidency. Dr. Davis challenges students to care about the past, while taking an interest in the events of today so that they can be prepared for tomorrow.

Dr. Davis has taught at the college level since completing his MA degree at the University of Central Arkansas in 1994. In 2001 he began work on his doctorate at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, finishing in 2005. His dissertation, “Politics as Usual: Franklin Roosevelt, Thomas Dewey and the Wartime Presidential Campaign of 1944,” is currently being prepared for publication with Northern Illinois University Press. His previously published work is an essay in the Arkansas Historical Quarterly (Winter 1999) entitled “The Legend of Bill Dark: Guerrilla Warfare, Oral History, and the Unmaking of an Arkansas Bushwhacker.” He is currently writing an essay on Gerald Ford's post-presidency for the Blackwell-Wiley volume, A Companion to Gerald R. Ford and Jimmy Carter.  He is also researching Elvis Presley's mid and late 1960s career, as well as the presidential campaign of 1992.

Dr. Davis and his wife, Holly, have been married since 1994 and have three beautiful daughters: Sadie Jewel born in 1998, Shiloh May born in 2001, and Savannah Belle born in 2005.
