Department of History
It is the purpose of the Department of History to teach and train students toward a Christian worldview of history. Offering general education courses, major programs and graduate courses, the Department gives comprehensive instruction in history and historical methodology, encourages students to develop an integrated Christian worldview, equips them for service and prepares graduates for further education and careers.

Summer 2013 Opportunity
Join Us in Athens, Greece this Summer and Earn Credit Towards Your Degree!
Study in Athens, Greece this summer with the History Department June 25 – July 4, 2013! Participating students will live in the heart of Athens during this 10-day study tour, where they will enjoy the ancient beauty of Athens while earning credit towards their program of study. Students will visit the Acropolis, Mars Hill, Agora, Corinth, Olympia, Mycenae, and many more of the country’s historic sites!
The cost for this once in a lifetime trip is only $950 and includes lodging, entrance fees to all scheduled sites, ground transportation, a city metro pass for the duration of the trip, and three meals a day! Students who enroll in one of the offered courses will pay regular tuition rates. Choose from one of the following course offerings:
- HIEU 201: History of Western Civilization I
- HIEU 321: Greek Civilization
- HIEU 497: Special Topics/European History
- HIEU 697: Special Topics/European History
The trip cost for a dual-occupancy room is only $950 per person, and the trip is open to students’ spouses and family over the age of 18. Each participant must complete an application. Civil War Seminar
Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., hosted its annual Civil War Seminar on Sept. 28-30, 2012, which provided an opportunity for scholars to present and debate research on the military, political, social, and other aspects of one of the defining conflicts of American history. In honor of the sesquicentennial of the Civil War, the theme of this seminar was the battles, campaigns, and other events and personalities of 1862.
